Different seasons mean different pests to deal with. With the warmer months behind us, so are the bees, wasps, and other summer nuisance pests. Right in the middle of fall is when the cooler temperatures hit. The leaves change one week and then it starts snowing before you know it! Humans aren’t the only ones preparing themselves for another treacherous Ohio winter. Rodents are too!
Right now, they are hiding outside in piles of wood, underneath your children’s toys and in anything else that will serve as temporary shelter. They are continually looking to weasel their way inside your house so that they can stay warm and well-fed through winter.
The good news is that you can keep that from happening! The first step you can take is minimizing any outdoor clutter. Next, look around the outside of the home for possible entry points. Keep in mind that it is much easier for mice to crawl up textured brick than smooth siding which means any entry points near the roof are going to be more accessible to them. In addition to around the roof, you should be checking around windows, doors, the foundation and around holes for plumbing, electrical and gas lines.
Rodents can squeeze into holes the size of a nickel. Once you have scoped out all possible entry points, you can plug them with steel wool and caulk.
If you take all precautions and still find these unwanted pests in your home, you know who to call! Our certified technician will complete a free inspection to help identify any missed entry points and will also offer effective solutions.
