Mass: 4–14 lbs (adult).
Length: 16–27 inches (including the tail).
Color: Brown or gray fur, bushy tail, and strong claws for digging.
Breeding season: February–March.
Birthing season: April–May (litters of 2–6 pups).

Groundhogs can carry and transmit several diseases, including:
