Mass: 6–14 lbs (adult).
Length: 20–30 inches (including the tail).
Color: Black fur with distinctive white stripes or spots.
Breeding season: February–March.
Birthing season: May–June (litters of 4–6 pups).
Diseases
Skunks can carry and transmit several diseases, including:

Leptospirosis
Distemper
Ticks, fleas, and mites (which can transmit other diseases)

Skunks can dig under decks, porches, and sheds to create dens.
Their digging can damage lawns and gardens.
Skunk spray can cause lingering odors that are difficult to remove.

Habitat
Skunks prefer wooded areas, grasslands, and suburban areas with access to food and shelter. They often make their dens under porches, sheds, and decks or in hollow logs and burrows. Skunks are nocturnal and use their spray as a defense mechanism when threatened.
