Team Member Spotlight: Brandon Miller
Let Me Tell You About Brandon Miller
By Karen Carpenter, COO
You know that expression “big shoes to fill?” That’s what comes to mind when I think about our technicians who work with our long-time residential customers. Trust and communication are critical, so when Brandon was assigned to work exclusively with our residential customers, he had big shoes to fill – we had very high expectations of him. Since he started with EPM back in 2017, Brandon has always risen to the occasion. He has not only met those high expectation, but he has turned into an honest-to-goodness “fan favorite” among our residential clients. They request him by name and they value the care he takes in their homes, as well as his supeior attention to detail.
Over the years, Brandon has had other assignments throughout the company, but he has told us time and again that what he loves most is working with our residential customers. He gets to know each of them and their families – as people, not just as “treatments” – and he values those relationships he builds.
While we couldn’t have known this when we hired him, it turns out that the residential pest management position has been a great fit for him. (The job not the shoes!) It just goes to show that a mild-mannered, unassuming guy who keeps his head down and does a great job really can make a difference in people’s lives, day in and day out.
What EPM Means to Me
By Brandon Miller, Residential Pest Management Technician
I’m a pest management technician – specializing in residential treatments –
so I’m out in the field every day and have been for the last four years. When I started, I was offered a position because EPM was growing like crazy (and it still is) and they just needed some hard-working people who would show up and do a good job. Even though I had no experience in pest management, I was keen to give it a try and they were open to taking a chance on me. Now, here I am, four years later, and I can say it’s been the best four years of my life. At the time I thought it’d be a short-term job until I figured out what I wanted to do long-term. Now I can say that I have a career.
I don’t have a family yet, but it’s awesome to know that I have a future here with real security. It’s hands down the best team I’ve ever been a part of. I’ve played sports growing up my entire life, so I’ve been around and on a lot of teams, and this one is something else. It’s hard to put into words how close we all are. We treat each other with respect and value every member, and that starts with our owners, Jason and Karen Carpenter. They show us every day how much they care about the company and for everyone who works here.
My customers often tell me that they’ve used other pest control companies in the past and they just can’t believe how different EPM is. I’ve even had some customers brought to tears because they didn’t believe we’d be able to get their pest problem under control. I always explain the process in detail and how everything works. I’m careful to tell them what we’ll be doing and more importantly, I assure them that they’re in great hands and that we will get their problem taken care of. After all, everyone deserves to live in a pest-free home.
Outside of work, I am pretty athletic and enjoy sports. I was a competitive body-builder for three and a half years, and while I don’t do that anymore, I still spend time at the gym staying fit. I just started playing flag football, and I love watching sports. I’m a devoted Buckeyes fan and a huge Baltimore Ravens fan, so on the weekends, if I’m not at work or at the gym, you’ll find me watching football with friends and family.
